Problem:

Aircraft mechanics had obsolete manuals and could not properly maintain military equipment. This could result in serious injury or death in the event of equipment failure.

The manuals were in an obsolete electronic and paper format and could not be easily updated or distributed to field personnel.

The outdated electronic and paper manuals needed to be converted to a standard electronic format. Once converted, the documents could be normalized into a consistent file type.

ILM Solution:

Through a combination of document scanning services, high definition scanning of line art, OCR, and manual data entry, ILM styled the documents based on client specified templates then parsed the files to XML.

Results:

Ongoing conversion of paper manuals into an electronic format that allows field engineers to properly maintain aircraft.
