American Chemical Society

In an effort to better serve their members and the public, the American Chemical Society was seeking a solution for making journal articles available and searchable online. They needed an expert document processing supplier to handle approximately 15,000 articles.

ILM Solution

ILM was able to create a process wherein electronic PDF documents underwent optical character recognition in order to make the text of these articles fully searchable. ILM also indexed the full text and embedded the metadata from these documents into the header of the PDFs. By providing indexed files with metadata, users would have quicker retrieval times.

Results

ACS librarians can easily manage and catalog documents which creates better efficiency for the organization. ILM optimized image quality and compression for quicker download times and reduced storage space required.
