OCR (Optical Character Recognition) converts printed or handwritten text into encoded text by analyzing text one character at a time
ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition) also analyzes text one character at a time, however can also read handwritten text. This process usually refines results over time using Machine learning (ML) or Artificial Intelligence (AI).
OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) is used for yes/no or multiple choice input. The data is captured by measuring whether a predetermined field is light or dark.
Manual Data Capture requires human interaction to record data from documents. Results are typically entered into a spreadsheet that can be analyzed and formatted as needed. While this is the most time-consuming approach, it is also the most accurate for handwritten or poor-condition materials.
